Cindy Byrd

About 

Cindy Byrd is a certified public accountant who has served as Oklahoma’s state auditor and inspector since 2019. Having begun her second term in January 2023, she is next up for reelection in 2026. Byrd was the 2024 auditor-at-large for the State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF).

Before being elected to office, Byrd began working as director of the County Audit Division in 2011, and in 2013, was appointed deputy state auditor over Local Government Services, a capacity she served in until winning her first election in 2018.

As the state’s top financial officer, Byrd serves as vice chair of the Oklahoma State Pension Commission, a member of the State Board of Equalization, chair of the State Board of Equalization Sub-Committee, and commissioner of the State School Land Commission. She also serves on 10 other boards and commissions, and completed more than 1,400 audits during her first term.

In 2023, SFOF gave Byrd the “Transparency in Government” award.
