Dale Folwell

About 

Dale Folwell has served as North Carolina’s state treasurer since 2017 and is next up for reelection in 2024. Previously, he served in the state’s House of Representatives from 2005–13 and was speaker pro tempore from 2011–13. As a state lawmaker, he was a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and active in the group’s Tax and Fiscal Policy task force.

From 2013–15, Folwell served as head of the state’s Division of Employment Security during the administration of Governor Pat McCrory (R).

  • Hosted a panel discussion at SFOF’s 2022 National Meeting titled, “What’s Next for the Economy in 2022?” that featured economist Stephen Moore and ALEC’s Jonathan Williams (2/17/22)
  • Participated in a Tax & Fiscal Policy Task Force Panel Discussion at the 2021 SFOF-ALEC Joint National Meeting moderated by ALEC’s Jonathan Williams that included Louisiana Treasurer John Schroder and West Virginia Treasurer Riley Moore (7/29/21)
  • Signed an SFOF letter urging President Biden to withdraw his nomination of Sarah Bloom Raskin as vice chair for supervision at the Federal Reserve for her “radical banking and economic views” that would “disrupt the private banking sector, reliable energy supplies, and the U.S. economy” (1/31/21)
